Covid Cancels Christmas . . . Parade
It is with great sorrow and disappointment we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Vilonia Christmas Parade. We have delayed making this decision until now in hopes the pandemic would lessen and social distancing become less critical to public health and safety. Unfortunately, that has not occurred and we cannot justify the risks to our citizens the parade would pose. There is just no way to ensure the safety of parade participants and viewers at this point.
We would like to remind everyone of the difficulties Vilonia has faced in the past, and how we have overwhelmingly recovered from each one just by doing what we do best, coming together as a community full of love, generosity, and hope. So instead of creating the best parade in Arkansas (you know it's true), let's put those skills into making Vilonia glow with Christmas decorations, fulfilling the needs of the Vilonia Angel Tree and other charities, and showing love, compassion, and support for each other in these troubling times.
We may have had to cancel the Christmas Parade, but that doesn't mean we have to let it snow on our Christmas Spirit.
