Honor those old flags
At Tuesday night's City Council Meeting, Boy Scouts from Troop 444 unveiled an easy and convenient way to dispose of old flags, while maintaining their dignity and respect.
Just as there are etiquette rules on how to fly the United States flag, so too are there rules for disposing of flags after their service is complete. By far the easiest method is to contact a local organization to dispose of the flag in a flag retirement ceremony. It can be difficult or overwhelming to do so for the average person, which makes the flag disposal box these boys created and donated so wonderful!
Simply place your retiring flag in the box. That's it.
Watch for our story on the creation of the box and its sibling at the Veterans Museum, as well as their creators.
